In Zetria, a lewd sci-fi action-platformer from karnedraws, you play as Solana – an adventurous salvager who after investigating a distress signal during a routine outing, finds herself surrounded by sex crazed monsters in a top secret lab. Charged by the sentient and curvaceous AI monitoring the facility, Solana is sent on a mission to rescue the lost science team, in hopes of figuring out how they can contain this sultry onslaught!
To do that, Solana will have to use her wits to traverse the maze-like halls and overcome its puzzling security systems, and maybe even contribute to the research being performed here.
Level 2 – Full nudity, visible penetration, but all acts are non-interactive. Technically sex is an integral part of the story, but not the gameplay. Though, you will find some of the monsters wandering around with their jangle hanging out, or getting busy with each other in the background.
Type 50% – All acts portrayed are between consenting parties, but all scenes feature sex with a non-human partner, which just so happens to be each of the monsters encountered in the game. Outside of that, the kink level of each of the acts are relatively low, with the most prominent being tentacle play and futanari.
When we first came across Zetria, it was honestly the game’s graphics that caught our eye first. I mean its pixel art seemed wonderfully detailed, and its character designs were alluring, not to mention its exquisitely animated cutscenes. It was also exciting to see an action platformer in the adult game space. It’s not a genre you see very often amongst the swell of visual novels, but it’s most certainly a welcome change of pace. There’s just something about knowing a game like this will contain some degree of naughty business that makes it that much more compelling to play. Largely because it shares so many similarities to your typical run of the mill video game. You know, the type without all the added naughty business.
My only hesitation to dive right in was that sometimes fun and satisfying gameplay can become secondary in adult games, especially when your primary selling point is the sexy stuff. But I had hope based on what I saw before I picked up a controller to play it myself.
Sex may have been Zetria’s biggest draw, but I appreciated that the gameplay wasn’t reliant on it. Sure you’ll encounter a few things here and there as you explore each of the stages, like bare breasted shield ladies, phallic health stations that get fresh as they refresh you, and bulky monsters hanging dong, but none of that got in the way of you solving puzzles and rescuing damsels. What I liked the most was that instead of having to fail or lose HP to unlock steamy scenes with the monsters, like you do in so many other games, you just had to find the hidden collectible in each stage. Which weren’t really that hard to find, and unlocked the one thing that probably brought you here in the first place – those full screen, fully animated and voiced, pornographic pixels. That you can watch as much as your heart desires and also happens to be some of the best pixels I’ve seen in an adult game in a while.
Now that we know that those colorful little dots are sufficiently erotic, it’s time to ask the most important question. How’s the gameplay? To which I would respond – it’s good enough. It’s certainly not anything to write home about, but it’s also not overtly offensive either. In fact, the action is quite simple with you only really having two weapons to worry about. A pistol and a shotgun. The challenge really comes from you having to be conservative with your ammo since each stage only has a finite amount that you can collect. That said, I rarely ran out of ammo and if I did, I was able to rely on my fancy melee attack, which could dispatch most enemies just as quickly as either of my guns. Using that attack however just meant I needed to be that much more conscientious about dodging enemy bullets. My biggest gripe regarding that was if I happened to die, I needed to restart the stage from the very beginning since there are no checkpoints.
Luckily all of the stages, even the later ones, are relatively short. You just have to remember to recollect everything on your way back through it. A minor pain, but not the end of the world. What I liked most about the stages was that you had to puzzle out a way to escort (carry) the lost scientists back to the extraction point. This usually meant you had to have the right doors unlocked, enemies cleared out, and elevators positioned in such a way that you could reach your destination. This was important because you can’t jump while holding them. It was a fun gimmick that reminded me of playing something like The Lost Vikings, only slightly more sensual.
Going into Zetria I had tempered expectations, but high hopes, and I’d say overall it ended up being a rewarding and sexy experience. And if you can’t get enough of those steamy xeno relations, then it would be a perfect solution to get your gaming fix in at the same time. With that in mind, the gameplay may not have blown my pants off, but there’s a lot of potential there and if karnedraws were to make a sequel, I’d be excited to see how they could expand on the ideas implemented here! In fact, I really enjoyed exploring the levels trying to find the hidden collectibles. Sure, because I knew I’d be rewarded with something that’s salacious, but also because it was just plain satisfying to play. I just wish it didn’t end so abruptly.
If you’re looking for an adult game that’ll get you hot and bothered, features amazing art and animation, and has a gameplay first mentality, then what are you waiting for? Two xenomorphic thumbs UP from us!
